北欧もいいけど、日本もすごい!
日本の伝統産業やモダンデザインを
をもっと世界に知ってもらいたいです。
思わず、英語でしゃべらないと。
At Ambiente Japan, the Interior Life Style Fair, held 11―13 June, 2008 at Tokyo BIg Sight, West Hall.
With the "Scandinavian boom" in Japan these past few years, the Nordic Lifestyle exhibition area was full of visitors.
I am a buyer in this field, specializing in Finnish designs and antiques, but I took a quick tour of all the products saying hello to familiar faces and business associates on my way to "Style Japan".
I was struck by how the fusion of Japanese traditional and contemporary designs are evolving and gaining influence. These designs have gone beyond Japan’s boundaries, introducing contemporary Japan, and transmitting the beautiful of Japanese culture to the world.
Some of the products are held in high esteem and have won honorable awards abroad.
Here are some examples:
A traditional lacquer (urushi) company presents, Kasane (meaning "stacking" in Japanese), modern, lacquer-like boxes in new materials.
Aluminum flower-base, Twist, was nominated for the MOMA good design collection. Twisting it can change its shape.
HanaBlomst Project’s chopsticks were featured in Elle Deco France.
Hana means "Flowers" in Japanese, Blomst in Danish.
Seen here with Arita(known as "Imari" abroad) ceramics.
Oribe design of Mino ceramics is now producing 12 types of cups and saucers designed by the Japanese architects.
and more...
Just Amazing!
